This is one of the most important new sections for
ALCINE39. A pioneering initiative in Spain, which will turn the
Alcalá de Henares / Comunidad de Madrid Film Festival into one of the most important ambassadors for the
Latin American short film industry.
Shortlatino is opening its doors for the first time. The new section of ALCINE will take place
from the 7th to the 9th of November. Three days spent between
meetings,
screenings,
workshops and
forums for exchange scheduled by the organization. The objectives of the project can be divided into three areas:
promoting professional interchange between agents in the sector; finding common ground as regards ideas for the industry, and lastly,
enabling the selective viewing of short films grouped by genres and formats.
The organization is working with highly regarded and prestigious professionals to get the first Shortlatino off the ground. Activities will be held from the 7th to the 9th of November in the
Multicines Cisneros. It will be opened on Saturday the 7th (16:00) with a
round table discussion 'The role of the Autonomous regions in short films', with speakers representing the Castilla-La Mancha, Canary Island and Comunidad de Madrid regions. The first day will be brought to a close with a debate entitled '
Crowd Funding. Alternative Financing', at 19:00.
Sunday the 8th will open at 12:00 with an
international meeting bringing together purchasers from the United States, Italy and Australia. And the round table will be repeated after lunch (16:00), on this occasion with the topic of
distribution under discussion and with invitees from Canada, France and Spain. The day will be brought to a close at 19:00 with the presentation entitled
'3dWire: Animation Market, 3D and video-games'.
The third day of Shortlatino (at 12:00) will start with an international meeting on the
realities of international festivals in the sector. The
Oberhausen Film Festival (Germany),
Curt Ficcions (Spain),
Aguilar de Campoo (Spain),
Movil Film Festival (Spain) and
Tempere Film Festival (Finland) will all be represented.
In tandem
an open area for 'meetings' is programmed from 10:00 to 20:00, the intention of which is to facilitate interchange between purchasers and sellers. And Shortlatino will also have a
zone for viewing the catalogue of the festival, which will operate with the same timetable.
Those interested in attending Shortlatino, an initiative aimed at professionals linked to the world of short film, can register at
www.alcine.org. The organization is placing fifteen viewing booths at the disposal of participants and an extensive catalogue of Spanish and Portuguese language short films.
