The registration period for short films in the National Short Film Competition has just been opened. Short films must be registered before the 1st of September. They must be less than one hour long, made after the 1st January 2010, and be Spanish directed and/or produced.
The competition accepts films in a final exhibition copy in 16 or 35 mm, Betacam Digital, Blu-ray or HD File format. The short films can be uploaded on-line for free and may participate in the Shortlatino short film market, an open showcase for programmers, purchasers of rights and festivals in other countries.
For the first time, the selected short films can opt to be viewed on the on-line film platform, Filmin, the day after they are exhibited in Alcalá and for a period of 72 hours.
The following prizes are awarded in the competition: The first three worth 8,000, 5,000 and 3,500 € respectively, the Comunidad de Madrid Award (3,500 €), the Caja Madrid Trophies for a range of categories, the Canal Plus Award, the CES Sound Award and the Young People’s Department Audience Award.
The European Competition is still open for entries, and registrations can be made until the 15th of July.
