Despite the idea you might get from TV that stand-up is just a bunch of observations about everyday life, there is a whole world of styles and sub-genres out there. One these is known as ‘one-liners’; distilled jokes or material just a couple of sentences long; deeply comic aphorisms created by authentic comic geniuses like Mitch Hedberg and Steven Wright. In other words, if standard monologues were feature films, this would be the most obvious equivalent of a short film. Because ALCINE is above all else, a short film festival.
So there was no way we were letting this little known side of comedy pass us by. And there was no better way than with the leading exponent of this school of comedy in Spain, Luis Álvaro. A veteran of Paramount Comedy and Comedy Central, a contributor to Andreu Buenafuente, and a familiar face on the comedy circuit around the country. Luis Álvaro has managed something that seemed almost impossible in Spain, to triumph while breaking down the comedy model of the Club de la Comedia line by line.
Sunday the 8th of November at 22:00 hrs, in the Corral de Comedias. Ticket: 3:05 €
