Music with cinematic connections, not your typical soundtrack.
ALCINE keeps up the relationship between decibels and images with
Sónica 07, a parallel project, which in previous years has welcomed soloists and groups such as
Jorge Drexler (Oscar winner for the soundtrack of the 'Motorcycle Diaries'),
Marlango (fronted by Leonor Watling) and
Najwa Nimri, in a relationship merging cinema and music in a single element.
Four musical proposals enter the fray at
ALCINE37. The main role is given to
Ireland, a country that will provide the majority of the melodies to be heard during the week.
Perry Blake is first up, a voice difficult to categorize,
an old time 'crooner', sadness oozing a combination of quality pop, soul and folk. He possesses one of Europe's outstanding voices, and will provide a rousing performance as a
prologue to the Festival.
Boys of the Hills will bring a dose of cheerful
folk to the
opening ceremony, the night of the 9th of November. A Madrid group that plays and promotes traditional Irish music, and spreads the word.
'The Boys of the Hills' will establish the festival's strong commitment to introducing those attending to the virtues of Irish culture, in this case the music.
More
folk is on the bill for
Sónica 07's third concert, at the very heart of the programming.
Brian Hunt and Russian Red, with their electric and acoustic fusion will take to the stage in The Three Legged Duck and serve a ration of refined melodies through the powerful guitar of the Cantabrian and the captivating voice of the Madrileña.
The artist closing
Sónica 07 will of course be Irish. He will enter the limelight on the last day of the Festival.
Garrett Wall, multifaceted creator living in Madrid, sings and composes assiduously for cinema and television. He is scheduled to perform on the
16th of November in the Sala Arlequino. His concert is part of
'Irish Day', a range of screenings culminating with a
party at Whelan's Irish Pub.
Sónica 07 will therefore provide
ALCINE with a first class soundtrack. A
melting pot of melodies; the perfect complement to the cinematic programming.
