Cinema and Music are perfect partners. The proof is Sónica's programming, which over the last few years has sweetened the nights of
ALCINE with music. This year the fusion between the two will be even more tangible. The
'Film Jockey' section aims to unite the genres around
New York's intense magnetism.
Rui Vargas, one of
Portugal's outstanding DJ's is going to paint a portrait of the city using a series of
images and experimental short films created by well-known artists, photographers and documentary filmmakers. Sky scrapers, never-ending streets and nighttime illustrations will form a
visual and poetic collage accompanied by a superb
live soundtrack. Those attending will be witness to a session of cinema and music capturing the
dizzying development of New York over the last few decades.
The project entitled
'NY, Illustrating/Depicting a Metropolis' and created by the Portuguese film festival
Curtas Vila do Conde, can be enjoyed for free in the
Sala Arlequino on
Thursday the 15th of November (22:15).
'Film Jockey' comes into being as a commitment to uniting black and white memories, technological innovation and of increasing importance music.
