'Diente por ojo' is a short film with the appearance of a feature.
I took the short film concept very literally and reduced the story of a feature film down to the shortest possible time to leave the spectator with no time to think until the film is over.
The structure is reminiscent of the films of González Iñárritu. Is he an influence?
Yes I like the work of Iñárritu a lot, as well as that of Paul Thomas Anderson, and Paul Haggis. Sometimes stories are not interesting enough to survive the 120 minute format, but with four or more stories at the same time you never get bored.
You had a cast out of the top drawer.
I think it is a mistake to end up using the people closest to you who just happen to be available for your project. I feel it is necessary to get the best help possible so I have tried to do just that. As to why they all accepted, I suppose I just put it down to luck.
Has your advertising side helped you on the shoot?
Definitely, I took the 'spots' just as seriously as I have taken this short film. I try to profit from each second to the maximum.
