Due to Shanghai’s regeneration scheme, old buildings are being demolished, and consequently almost 100000 families are being forced to move each year. The Short Film explores the human implications of the Shanghai Planning Office and its Property Developers operations. Photographs are composed and animated with documentary shots; the film proposes a voyage through the destruction of a district of the city...

Zhenchen Liu
Zhenchen was born in 1976 in Shanghai. He received an MA in Painting at the school of Fine Art in Shanghai and a masters diploma from the National Art School of Nice (Villa Arson). He works a lot on the subjects of 'urban', 'modernization', and 'the problem with the development of China'. Recently, he participated in the 1st Biennial of Chinese Contemporary Art in Montpellier, the 11th Biennial of the Moving Image" in Geneva, "Panorama8" in Tourcoing, la Rencontre Internationales Paris/Berlin, Festival de Clermont-Ferrand, Oberhausen International Film Festival... He's currently in residency at the National Studio of Contemporary Arts of Fresnoy.
