In the middle of Berlin two neighboring districts Friedrichshein and Kreuzberg are located.... For generations now, people who live in these two districts meet once a year on the only object that connects them, a bridge called the Oberbaumbrucke. And on this annual battle, these people fight each other with rotten fruits and vegetables... Most people in the two districts don’t know why they have to battle each other, or better to say, everybody does it for different reasons.... But there are people who know the Wasserschlacht better than anyone else, the people who remembered when it all started. These people are: RIZA and ANNE...

Katarzyna Klimkiewicz
Katarzyna was born in 1977. She graduated from the Directing Department of the Polish National School of Film, Television and Theater in Łódź. Her documentary 'Wasserschlacht – The Great Border Battle', produced with Andrew Friedman, received the Berlin Today Award at the 2007 Berlinale. Her documentary works include Krystian Lupa's 'Labyrinth' (2003) and 'Nothing to Lose' (2009).
