In December 2005, Cinema España, the last film theatre that had survived in the suburb of Carabanchel, Southwest Madrid, was closed. All of them have yielded to the new days of television, video and multi-cinemas, when the audience has deserted from the modest suburbial theatres.

Juan Carlos Zambrana del Valle
Juan Carlos was born in Madrid in 1971. He studied Image and Sound at the CFTP Puerta Bonita. He has worked as a cameraman for Informativos Tele5 and, currently, for Sogecable. He produced the short movies 'Malatarde' (1995), 'Te lo mereces' (1996), 'El hijo pródigo' (1998), 'Looking for Chencho' (1999), and the feature film 'Aficionados' (2000). 'Carabanchel, un barrio de cine' is his first short film as a director.
