It's the summer of 2004. Barcelona is in the process of splurging on the festivities for the Universal Forum of Cultures. The city is changing rapidly and many people don't fit anymore into the human landscape which is being forged by the urban authorities. Pedro Vazquez is 70 years old and will soon be thrown out of the hovel where he lives in Old Town. But where will he go? He spends his afternoons on the mythic terrace of the Bar del Pi conversing with the few acquaintances he has left. He dreams of having a studio where he can return to his painting practice and remembers the songs his grandfather used to sing to him in his native Carmona. This intimate portrait, in the tradition of the Spanish Chiaroscuro, is not only a chronicle of a city which refuses to disappear but is also an archaeology of the struggles which are being fought there today.
