On the slopes of the Navarrese Pyrenees, the construction of the Itoiz dam in the 1990s flooded seven villages and three nature reserves. A strip of bare land, 592 metres above sea level, today marks a dividing line within the landscape of the valley.

Maria Elorza

María, Vitoria-Gasteiz, 1988. She graduated in Audio-visual Communication from the University of Barcelona and later obtained a master’s degree in Creation and Research in Art from the University of the Basque Country. She has directed several short films, both on her own and within the collective Las Chicas de Pasaik. Apart from her work at the Tabakalera, International Centre for Contemporary Culture in San Sebastian, she also collaborates in the organisation of the LUPA Documentary Film Festival and teaches at the Larrotxene Cultural Centre in the same city.

Miguel Ángel Jiménez

Madrid, 1979. After a summer of cinema in Valladolid, Miguel Ángel Jiménez abandoned Law to study Camera and Photography. He got the help of Aki Kaurismäki to shoot his first short film in 2001. After a few years working in television in Bilbao, in 2007 he founded Kinoskopik with Gorka Gómez and three others. Now he survives and shoots films from time to time. 'Sumendia', a feature film in preproduction, will be his latest opportunity.
