When Benito Lacunza – a lazy barman and wannabe jazz musician – goes back for a few days to Estella, his home village, he finds out in surprise that his brother Lalo, a dodger keen on assembling sculptures out of scrap iron, is engaged. Benito knows her fiance from his teenage years: she’s Nines, a single mother curbed by life. Benito decides to prevent Lalo to fall in such a trick. His plan crumbles once he knows Nines daughter, Ainara, an introspective, rebel and precocious smoker with whom Benito begins an unusual friendship.

Félix Viscarret
Félix was born in Pamplona in 1975. After having studied Film directing in the William Paterson University in New Jersey, he directed the short film 'Dreamers' which obtained several awards among them the Honorary Mention of the Jury in the Berlin International Film Festival (1999), Winner of the Hunter College Film Festival of New York (1998), First Prize at Best Short Film, and Best Screenplay at the Alcine Film Festival (1999). With his short film 'Canciones de invierno' (2004), he obtained too several awards at national and international festivals. The short films 'Los que sueñan despiertos' and 'El Albúm Blanco' were awarded in various festivals such as Málaga and Alcalá de Henares, among others. 'Bajo las estrellas' was his first feature film.
