Arturo Ripstein, son of the producer Alfredo Ripstein, entered the world of cinema at a very young age, working as Luis Buñuel assistant. In 1965 directed his first feature film 'Time to Die', written by Carlos Fuentes and Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Ripstein received the National Arts Prize becoming the second director ever to get this important award after, Luis Buñuel.
