Omondi lives in the biggest lost city in East Africa. Everyday, he sees planes flying over him. He dreams of becoming a pilot to fly to far lands.

His thesis film at AFI (American Film Institute), 'A Table Is A Table', won the 2001 Student Award by The American Society of Cinematographers (ASC). Since then he has combined his work as a Director and as a cinematographer. His film 'I want To Be A Pilot' was shot in Kenya after working in 'The Constant Gardener' as a Camera Operator.
