How does a widowed 88-year-old woman manage to continue being the protagonist of her own life-story? Why - after a life-long struggle for survival- should her passion for life disappear in her old age? How is it possible for an uneducated old woman to actually know more about her city and its architectural transformations than most young people? After having lived through such collective and personal trauma as a civil war, a poverty-stricken post-war period, and the loss of two of her children, how can an elderly woman still keep her sense of humour and a keen interest in her surroundings?
