Gilles was born in 1977 in Lille. After studies of Applied Arts, he entered the first promotion of the 'Cinema of Animation' DMA of the ESAAT School of Arts in Roubaix, then the Gobelins' Image School, in Paris. Back in the North of France, he started as animator assistant several short films, produced by Les Films du Nord.
