PENSÉES ET VISIONS D'UNE TÊTE COUPÉE (ANTOINE WIERTZ)

Thoughts and Visions of a Beheaded Head (Antoine Wiertz)

Francia. 1991. Color - blanco/negro. 26 min. Ficción. 35mm.
  • Film Director: Olivier Smolders.
Consumed by an excessive ambition, the terrible 'brushes' philosopher' Antoine Wiertz evokes some of the themes of his work: the suicide, the beheading, the events, the vanity of the world and the purifier virtues of the erotic image. From his desire to see his paintings confronted with the great masters, responds a film mixing amateur painting and noble painting that builds gradually the image of an artist both spiritual and academic, conformist and revolutionary, sentimental and pornographic. In summary, a wise mix of genius and stupidity without knowing exactly how to distinguish them.
