Fossil Memory

A boy discovers his grandfather's life through a stethoscope. From the house where the old coal miner is dying of silicosis, the child begins an audiovisual journey going back in time. This initiatory experience will bring the boy the consciousness of History and the desire of maintaining Memory alive.

Arnaud Demuynck
After having written various screenplays for fiction and animated films, in 2000 with "L'Écluse" Arnaud set out to direct a "choreographic fiction". In 2001 he directed his "choreographic trilogy": "Signs of Life" (2004), "The Shadow of Veil" (2006) and "Breakout"(2007). While also pursuing his career as a producer of short films, which he considers as a vital genre for animation, he began in 2007, to develop "Par les fenêtres", inspired by the 19th century poets. In 2006, he set up www.toondra.com, the first website entirely devoted to selling short animated films on line. In 2008, he co-writes his first full length film "Le Vilain Petit Chartreux" with Fabrice Luang-Vija.
Anne-Laure Totaro
Anne-Laure se graduated from ESAAT animation school and La Poudrière, and worked as intervalist on the Jacques Rémy's Girerd's features "La prophétie des grenouilles" and "Mia et le Migou". After working as assistant director for the short film "L'ombre des choses", she directs her first short "Le bouillon" in 2005. Then, she joins the production of Nicolas Liguori's short film "La Svedese" as animator and then codirects "Mémoire fossile", animated with coal drawings.
